Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has re-commissioned Nuhu Bamalli Maternity Hospital after extensive renovations and equipping it with state-of-the-art facilities.

Governor Yusuf’s commitment to refurbishing the old maternity hospital stemmed from his administration’s bold step to reduce newborn and maternal deaths in Kano.

Unveiling the new edifice on Thursday, the governor expressed satisfaction that the upgraded facility was intended to improve the health of the population in the region.

He recalled that Nuhu Bamalli Hospital was left in a deteriorated condition with poor equipment and an acute shortage of human resources at the time he took over the administration.

The Governor added that the renovation and reinvigoration of the facility at Nuhu Bamalli and Asiya Bayero Paediatric Hospitals are deliberate attempts to restore public trust in public health.

He, therefore, urged stakeholders to take ownership and responsibility for ensuring the proper management and protection of the newly installed equipment and to keep the facility clean.

Yusuf reassured the people of the state that his administration will not relent in delivering quality healthcare services, as major priority attention is being devoted to the sector.

The Governor used the occasion to announce that contracts for the renovation of all general hospitals across the state have been awarded, with the aim of benefiting all citizens.
